 SOWERBY BRIDGE WINTERLIGHT 2018

Over the last six years the Winterlight Team, in conjunction with  the Board of Fire & Water, have created a free festival for Sowerby Bridge in December. Winterlight is now established as a significant event in the Sowerby Bridge cultural calendar. Many local volunteers and professionals are giving their time and resources to organising the project.

This year the theme is The Winterlight Ball. We would like you to show up in your best illuminated costumes to light up Sowerby Bridge! The event is on Sunday 16th December 4.30 - 8.30pm in  Hollins Mill Lane, Sowerby Bridge. We want you to help us make an exciting, vibrant, cultural environment for Sowerby Bridge.

A special THANK YOU! to our sponsors
We want to say a very big thank you to all of our sponsors who have been so generous in their contribution to Winterlight 2018, and who have made the event possible.

We are Joining Jack...
This year we are supporting Joining Jack in helping to fund research into DMD (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy)and, hopefully, bring to an end the suffering caused by this fatal genetic disorder that affects one in 30,000 boys.

History

Fire and Water is a community group that has secured the asset transfer of the old Swimming Pool, Council Chambers and Fire Station. The project will create a purpose built venue to provide arts, music, performance and cultural events for Sowerby Bridge and the region; we want to show creative ways of using the buildings for community benefit.

Winterlight

Over the last six years the Winterlight Team, in conjunction with the Board of Fire & Water, have created a free festival for Sowerby Bridge in December. This has brought entertainment and spectacle to the community with an exciting  mixture of performance, music and street theatre, illustrating the creative potential of the buildings.

Community

Winterlight is now established as a significant event in the Sowerby Bridge cultural calendar. Last year 3000 people enjoyed the festival which demonstrates an appetite in the community for creative endeavour. Many local volunteers and professionals are giving their time and resources to organising the project.

Funding

Winterlight 2018 has had a pledge of £5,000 from a local business, D.Sales Ltd. If we can raise a further £5,000 from local businesses and the community, they will increase their pledge to £10,000  With sufficient pledges we will be able to book performers and musicians for the festival to be held on the 16th December.

The Future

To create a sustainable future for the event we need the support of local businesses. Our aim is designed with long lasting impact in mind and is to develop a broad, vibrant, cultural environment for Sowerby Bridge.

All sponsors will be acknowledged in our posters, fliers and literature and on social media.  This year we are also supporting  local and national charities.

WINTERLIGHT – Sowerby Bridge's illuminated street festival

Winterlight is the events arm of Sowerby Bridge Fire & Water whose aim is to develop an exciting and creative hub, embracing cultural, educational and economic activities to revitalise the historic centre of Sowerby Bridge.  For more information go to Sowerby Bridge Fire & Water.

How you can help

Anyone wishing to donate to Winterlight should go to Fire & Water and donate, adding a message about the money being for Winterlight.

Donations (min £5) should be no more than £10 any one time to get the best benefit from match funding – but of course you can make as many donations as you want, you can do individual donations or set up a standing order.
